There is no reason your nutrition has to take a nosedive just because you are running around trying to get back to a school routine. Here are my super yummy and easy tips for grabbable, healthy and delicious snacks for back to school and on the go types.

Calbee Snack Salad – Snapea Crisps:
At 150 calories for 22 pieces, these crisps give you a lot of snacking with limited guilt. They are a cross between a chip and a dried veggie snack. They are delicious and at roughly $2 a bag they are a bargain.
Dried Nuts/Berries and Cereal:
Back in the day, we used to call it G.O.R.P, aka granola, oats, raisins, and peanuts. But you can call it whatever you like. The point is, to create your own mix based on your personal taste preference. I like almonds, chocolate chips, raisins and cranberries with a smidge of wholegrain cheerios. I pre-pack my snack in snack-bags and then I have plenty for lunch packs or a quick, on the go snack for myself. What you do not eat in one sitting you can easily tuck away for future snacking. Roughly ½ cup will run you about 200 calories and is more dollar friendly than store-made pre-packaged versions.
Fruit Cups and Sauces:
There are many brands of healthy, single serving fruit cups and sauces. Peaches, pears, applesauce, and combinations are all available in your local grocery store. But my favorites are from Trader Joe’s – they sell some excellent healthy selections. At roughly $2.50 a 4-pack they are economical and super easy as they are already pre-portioned. They are also low in calories and fat-free. Plus, they do not require refrigeration.
Cheers to healthy, delicious, and low-cost eco-friendly snacks! Now to get just as excited about back to school, summer is over, routine.
