Peter Hughes, President and Founder

Conventional wisdom says that Peter is Izzit Green’s biological father.  Although genetic tests have proven inconclusive, the pair share a thumb-like body shape and deep brown eyes that suggest near-human intelligence.  Thankfully Peter’s two young sons and wife Kris have all embraced their new family member, though Kris is genuinely worried that hairy men and hairy problems will soon overrun her world.

During his formative professional years, Peter toiled to decode the mysteries of ‘workforce performance management’ and the reviled black art of CRM.  In time, he turned his attention to a more personal pursuit: how to help drive the adoption of sustainable ideas and businesses practices to everyday people. And voila, Izzit was born.

Tom Permatteo, CEO and Founder

Famous for bringing an immensely popular and effective sales technique called  ‘Cliché Day’ to Informix Software during its zenith in the mid 1990′s, and for his now well known mantra of “it’s not about me”, Tom has built a highly successful career in technology start-ups by making people feel like they are actually achieving something.  As Tom will tell you, it’s neither art, nor science.

Boston born and bred, Tom is a proud alumni and product of the city’s finest public high school, Latin Academy, where he met his wife of twenty plus years. He is a graduate of UMass Boston and the father of two great kids.  Tom is also rumored to be the only human who can communicate clearly with and control both Izzit and Peter.

Martin Gauthier, EVP Business Development and Founder

For years, Martin attempted to raise the cool factor of what is arguably the most boring industry in the world – corporate telephony and contact center systems.  Though unsuccessful in his cool transformation efforts, he did manage to develop a highly successful career as a sales and business development executive.

Martin is a dad, economist, avid sailor, ravenous snowboarder and sometime farmer. He is passionate about the sea and the mountains and as a lifelong fan of Jacques Cousteau he relishes his sophisticated French (Canadian) accent, but stops short at wearing a red bonnet. He and his family split their time between their residence in Montreal and the family farm in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.  During the summer of 2007, Martin was the first known human to spot Izzit in the wild.

Bob Caslin, CTO/VP Development

Another Boston native, Bob had heard stories of Izzit but it wasn’t until he joined the team, that he learned the truth, Izzit really does exist!! B.I. (Before Izzit), Bob led teams that developed and deployed shrink-wrapped software, web applications, and EAI solutions for healthcare companies, financial services organizations, call centers operations, and global content management. Most recently Bob led the team that built and deployed a globalization management system for the world’s largest auto manufacturer. Now his challenge is to make sure that Izzit and the IzzitGreen community drive the adoption of a sustainable lifestyle and a greener and somewhat “hairier” planet…

Alina Jesien, Store Manager Sports and Fitness

As an avid sports fan and outdoors lover, Alina can usually be found, or not, somewhere in the wild. How she gets her work done remains somewhat of a mystery to the rest of us.  Luckily for Alina, Wisconsin is flat and cold, allowing her to stay inside long enough to make it through a Marketing Degree. She spent the next couple of years in the cycling industry where she briefly  hated the cold, but loved the flat.

Rumor has it that Alina is currently based in Brussels, Belgium and spends much of her time backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, biking and running.  Activities like these help her get away from daily situations in which she embarrasses herself with her insanely poor French-speaking skills, and then consoles herself with waffles and beer.

Information We Collect About You

Registration
In order to contribute to the site–reviews, articles, media (photos, videos), blog posts, comments, lists, compliments, enter contests, etc–you need to register with our site. During registration, you must supply us with your email address (which is your user name), name, screen name (for you to be identified in the system), password, and a zip code (for us to direct you to the businesses and content most relevant to you). Optionally you may provide your gender, age, pictures of yourself, interests, confusion, expertise, and more.

User Community Content
We view community member content in three ways:

• “Conversational” Content: All content that a community member contributes for the betterment of the community consisting of comments, poll responses, discussions, compliments, ranking, flagging. This content will be stored and remain part of the community until this content is no longer deemed relevant to the conversation. If a community member cancels their account, their personally identifiable association with this content will be removed but the content will stay.
• “Shared” Content: All content that a community member contributes to enhance the knowledge of the community considered to be adding/editing businesses information, adding media (pictures/videos) of a business, reviews of a business, guide contributions, column submissions, or buzz articles. This content will be retained and considered part of the community knowledge. If a community member cancels their account, their personally identifiable association with this content will be removed but the content will stay.
• “Personal” Content: All content that user contributes that is personally identifiable to them consisting of profile pictures (or video), profile information, private messages sent/received, friends/fan relationships, or personal blog entries. This content will be considered part of the community while a community member is part of the community. If a community member cancels their account, this content will be removed.

Others’ Information
Anytime you send an article, blog post, discussion item, or information to a friend we use your friend’s email address for the specific action(s) that you request. We will not contact them for any other reason.

If you receive an email newsletter or announcement, which you can control via your account preferences, and forward this email to a friend of yours, that information is kept and stored in a third party email service provider MailChimp.com.
However, when you invite your friends to become members of IzzitGreen, we store their address to send the invite and give you credit once your friend signs up. We don’t email those people outside of the invite process and users can opt-out (need to double-check, might be phase 1.11.1).

Children
IzzitGreen does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for IzzitGreen.com or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on IzzitGreen.com. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at support@IzzitGreen.com.

Usage Information
When you visit our website or open an email, we do collect information about your session (session length, pages visited, files downloaded, content contributed, and ads seen). Our site uses cookies to facilitate tracking as well as auto-login, geography selected, search location, and ad-serving.

This information is stored in files on our web site, as well as tracked using the third party services of Google Analytics for web information and email provider Bronto for email tracking.

How We Use It

Aggregate information
Our goal is to enable you the community member, to improve your community. Therefore, the majority of information we collect, from website to survey responses, has to do with what your interests are and how you use (or would like to use) our community. We analyze this data in aggregate and in segments and use it in order to provide better information, features, functionality, and delivery of our work to you.

Email addresses
If you are a registered user your email address is your unique identifier. Being a registered user, you are able to contribute and participate in the community.

If you are subscribed to any of our email content, we will use information you’ve provided to deliver and tailor them for you. We may also send by email occasional invitations to surveys, contests, special events, and administrative or other notices regarding the website, its contents, and your registration.

When you submit questions or comments to IzzitGreen.com by email (either externally or through the site), we will use your e-mail address to respond directly to you. These emails are also stored in a third party email management solution FogBugz.

If you submit questions, suggestions for enhancement, on our site, these messages are stored on a third party service called GetSatisfaction.

Except as explained in this policy, IzzitGreen does not send unsolicited e-mail.

Other individual information
When you are logged into the site, your “display name” will appear on the top right of every page. Your “display name” is the handle you chose during registration. You may change your display name by going to Settings.

When you participate in any discussion (comments, forums, reviews, compliments, etc.), the information you submit will be made publicly available and attributed to you. For example, when you provide a public comment on a Column or any other page, both your comment and the name you supply will be shown on the page for other website visitors to see.
Additionally, all profile information that you provide during registration such as screen name, location, expertise, confusion, interests, etc. are displayed to all that view your profile. This information is publicly accessible on the internet and will be indexed by search engines or may be copied or shared by other people, and IzzitGreen has no control over who obtains the information or what they do with it. Date of birth and gender are not displayed publicly.

If your participation in a contest, survey, or special offer entitles you to a prize or other gift, we will use the information you provided us to fulfill your prize. Some survey information may be maintained with your profile so we can tailor the presentation of our work to you.

Who Do We Share Information With?

We may share aggregate information about our audience (e.g. demographics, interests, website usage) with donors, partners, website users or other interested parties. Please note that this is not personal information, only general summaries of the activities and interests of our audience.

Third party service providers

We will not share individually-identifying personal information about you with third parties without your permission, with the exception of service providers or other organizations we contract with to fulfill services on our behalf (e.g. delivering email or mail, prizes, etc.), or under the circumstances described in Compliance with Legal Requirements below.

Compliance with Legal Requirements

Vertuous, LLC owns the IzzitGreen Service and the IzzitGreen web site and alla associated intellectual property, including all computer code, graphics, user interfaces and audiovisual content used to provide the IzzitGreen Service. All IzzitGreen Service software and all content, the user interface and graphic elements are all copyrighted works of Vertuous, LLC d/b/a IzzitGreen. Various other aspects of the IzzitGreen Service may be protected by intellectual property laws including copyright, trademark, patent and trade secret laws.

Privacy Policy

Use of the IzzitGreen web site and/or the IzzitGreen Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, a copy of which is currently located in the ‘Privacy Policy’ section of this page.

Copyright Dispute Policy

IzzitGreen respects the intellectual property of others. IZZITGREEN DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SATISFACTION SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ANY TIME OR FROM ANY PARTICULAR LOCATION, WILL BE SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE IZZITGREEN SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER POTENTIALLY HARMFUL COMPONENTS. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM IZZITGREEN OR THE IZZITGREEN SERVICE SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS OF SERVICE.
4. IZZITGREEN AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE UNDER ANY THEORY OF LAW, FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, AND/OR LOSS OF INFORMATION OR DATA. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY CONTAINED HEREIN, IZZITGREEN’S MAXIMUM AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSES WHATSOEVER, AND REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, WILL AT ALL TIMES BE LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (i) THE AMOUNT PAID, IF ANY, BY YOU TO IZZITGREEN FOR THE IZZITGREEN SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ACTION GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY OR (ii) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00).
5. These Terms of Use (including the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between IzzitGreen and you regarding the IzzitGreen Service. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms of Use will be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Exclusive venue of any such dispute will be the state or federal courts located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts USA, and you agree to the personal jurisdiction of those courts for such purposes. The failure of IzzitGreen to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Service shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms of Service shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and be enforceable.
